The Los Angeles Dodgers have just announced their 2025 season schedule, featuring a historic Opening Day in Japan. This marks the second consecutive year the Dodgers will start their season in Asia. Let’s take a closer look.
The Dodgers will kick off the 2025 season with the Tokyo Series, presented by Guggenheim, facing the Chicago Cubs on March 18 and 19 at the Tokyo Dome. Following their international debut, the Dodgers will return to the U.S. for their home opener against the Detroit Tigers on March 27, beginning a three-game series.
April will start strong for the Dodgers, closing out their first homestand with three games against the Atlanta Braves from March 31 to April 2. The team will return for a second homestand on April 11, facing the Cubs again. A special highlight is set for April 15, when Dodger Stadium will celebrate Jackie Robinson night during a game against the Colorado Rockies.
May and June promise exciting matchups, with an all-New York City homestand from May 30 to June 5, featuring games against both the Yankees and the Mets. The balanced schedule, now in its third year, ensures that the Dodgers will play at least one series against every Major League team, either at home or away.
Interleague play will bring additional excitement, with the Dodgers hosting teams such as the Athletics, Angels, Yankees, White Sox, Astros, Twins, and Blue Jays throughout the season. The regular season will conclude on September 28 at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, with the final home games against the San Francisco Giants from September 18 to 21.
The Tokyo Series is just the latest chapter in the Dodgers’ extensive international history. The team opened the 2024 season with the Seoul Series in South Korea and has previously played in countries including Mexico, Australia, Taiwan, China, and Puerto Rico. This upcoming Tokyo Series will be the sixth time MLB has opened its regular season in Japan, marking the 25th anniversary of the first regular season games played there in 2000.
