Carlos Alcaraz replies to Rafa Nadal message as Djokovic told to

The 2024 French Open is over – but the fallout continues. Yesterday Carlos Alcaraz got the better of Alexander Zverev in a five-set final. Reigning champion Novak Djokovic’s withdrawal blew the tournament wide open and allowed Alcaraz to clinch his first Roland Garros title.

The Spaniard, 21, fought hard to beat Jannik Sinner in the semi-finals, coming back from a set down to knock the Italian out at the penultimate hurdle. And he was made to work for his third Grand Slam triumph too having lost the second and third sets.

The Australian Open is now the only major tournament he is yet to win. Zverev still has never won a Grand Slam before having lost all of the three finals he has appeared in.

John McEnroe showers Carlos Alcaraz with praise
John McEnroe has hailed Carlos Alcaraz as better than Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic when all of the ‘big three’ were his age.

The 21-year-old has already been world No. 1 and won three different Grand Slams.

“For me Alcaraz is better than Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic at 21 years old. We are talking about a unique tennis player and we will certainly need him for a long time in this sport,” McEnroe said.

“You have to love Carlos for everything he brings to the court. The most what’s important is the smile that Carlos brings to the pitch. That joy of competing that is difficult to feel, it’s difficult to always have a smile when you’re stressed.”
