The likes of Esteban Ocon, Carlos Sainz, and even Sebastian Vettel have been linked with Mercedes. Now, in a recent report, Mick Schumacher has said that he has been in contact with Toto Wolff regarding the vacant seat.
Mick Schumacher, who was let go by Haas at the end of 2022, was picked up by Mercedes for the role of reserve driver in 2023 with a promise of looking out for his future. According to a recent tweet from Fastest Pitstop, the German has said, “I think few people know how good I am,“ suggesting that there might be a possibility he will be back on the grid in 2025.

Mick Schumacher has expressed his interest in taking the opportunity if Mercedes is willing to put its faith in him. While he acknowledged the pressure that comes with being in a Mercedes, especially when you’re replacing one of the greatest Formula 1 drivers of all time, he also said that he can handle the pressure. However, he knows that Toto Wolff will not gift the drive to just anyone, you’ll have to prove yourself first. And after 2 disappointing seasons in F1 with Haas, Mick has to build his reputation back up. “I have a chance, I just don’t know how big it is yet, I hope I can recommend myself,“ he said.
In 2024, Mick Schumacher will continue to serve his role as the reserve driver for Mercedes while also taking part in the WEC (World Endurance Championship) for Alpine. And for Mick, his performance in the WEC will play a big role in proving himself to Toto Wolff that he has got what it takes to be in Formula 1.
